Sinclair Research Center and Sinclair BioResources have recently contributed to a special issue of Toxicologic Pathology (Volume 44, Number 3, 2016) titled Swine in Translational Research and Drug Development. This issue focuses on the most recent developments of the use of swine, particularly miniature swine, in preclinical research; it also delves into the potential of future use of miniature swine in translational research and drug development. SRC and SBR contributed to the collection of background clinical and histopathological observations, vital to the interpretation of test article-related findings, in the article ”Miniature Swine Breeds in Toxicology and Drug Safety Assessments: What to Expect during Clinical and Pathology Evaluations”; they additionally contributed to the article “Background Pathological Changes in Minipigs: A Comparison of the Incidence and Nature among Different Breeds and Populations of Minipigs.”
Xybion Corporation announced today that Sinclair Research Center, LLC will deploy Xybion’s Total Preclinical Solution platform across Sinclair’s entire Laboratory operation. Sinclair and Xybion are collaborating to get ahead of the FDA SEND mandate while digitizing and automating Sinclair’s Lab to achieve significant productivity gains to support the growth of Sinclair’s business.

Entitled ”Pharmacokinetic Compatibility Study of Lidocaine with EXPAREL in Yucatan Miniature Pigs” and published in ISRN Pharmaceutics in 2011, this study investigates the potential for EXPAREL to interact with lidocaine.
The 2013 edition of the Book of Normals is now available from our sister company, Sinclair BioResources, providing a comprehensive collection of normal values specifically for their miniature swine, including clinical pathology, body weights, growth charts, and organ weights.
Sinclair BioResources has been producing Yucatan, Sinclair and Hanford miniature swine for years. Their swine have been used extensively for toxicology, pharmacokinetic, metabolism, dermal and medical device studies; studies in these strains have been readily accepted by the FDA and other regulatory agencies. This new resource serves to provide support for clients as they sponsor and perform preclinical studies.
