| Sinclair Research
Center (Sinclair) is a miniature swine production facility
and a contract research organization. Sinclair specializes
in in-life preclinical efficacy testing and the production
of animal models. In fact, Sinclair is the only private
company primarily involved in large animal model development.
Sinclair has contributed or is experienced in a number
of animal models available to our clients, namely: Peripheral
and Coronary Devices Evaluation, Spontaneous Ventricular
Septal Defect (VSD), Diabetes type 1 and 2, Obesity,
Atherosclerosis, Osteoporosis (4 models), White Hairless
Miniature Swine for Dermal Studies, Spontaneous Regressing
Malignant Melanoma, MHC Defined Lineages for Transplantation,
Orthopedic Modeling and Surgical Modeling. Sinclair
is proud to announce the acquisition of a high-power
fluoroscope with cardiovascular support.
We are now supporting the evaluation of peripheral
and coronary devices, cardiac ischemic models, and local
drug delivery evaluation. Sinclair is constructing a
complete cardiovascular program for device, drug, and
diet evaluation. In 2002, Sinclair acquired the Charles
River Laboratories miniature swine colonies and the
Maine production facility. This strategic acquisition
has created a number of possibilities for scientists.
To accommodate the growth of Sinclair, and to improve
the quality of the research and production facilities,
Sinclair purchased 200-acres near Columbia and built
a state-of-the-art research and animal production complex
that has more than twice the capacity of the original
UMC site and continues to grow. The facility was completed
in the fall of 2004 and is fully operational. Sinclair
also operates the Maine Yucatan production facility
acquired from Charles River Laboratories, and has instituted
improvements and expansions in that facility as well.
Sinclair complies with a number of agencies. We are
USDA licensed as a breeder (43-R-2499) and research
facility (43-R-0109). We are AAALAC accredited and GLP
compliant. The animal care and veterinary program is
in compliance with the Guide for the Care and Use of
Laboratory Animals. Sinclair has an Assurance Statement
filed with PHS.
