PreClinOmics was formed in July, 2001 by the same management team and advisors that formed Genetic Models Inc., in 1991. Genetic Models brought to the research and development community such rat models as the ZDF, SHHF and ZSF1. These models are proving themselves to be excellent research subjects for the study of the etiology of diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, hyperlipidemia and kidney failure and for the demonstration of efficacy and the identification of the mechanisms of drug action. Genetic Models also performed research and drug efficacy testing services for some of its customers. Joseph Pesek, founding CEO and Richard Peterson, Ph.D. creator of the ZDF and Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board are now providing the common thread of vision and direction for PreClinOmics as they did for Genetic Models.
